My Mind on Facebook

A few words on Facebook:
I used to have one, but I guess I'm not part of the "rich-get-richer" or the "social competence" categories we talked about in class that really benefit socially from having a Facebook. Like others from our class, I preferred not to be "friends" with anybody I wasn't close enough to for a phone call or a hug. For me, that's really only family and friends that I see on a regular basis anyways.
I'm definitely not against Facebook though. I have seen it be a wonderful social benefit to many people. Also, I know some people let it absorb a little too much time and effort (teenagers especially).

My main view on Facebook is for each individual to find out what it does for them exactly. This can be tested by going on a "Facebook fast" for a couple weeks or so. Of course you will be able to live without it, but the question will be how/do you manage without it well? Can you replace it with equally good things and social positives? Or does your Facebook satisfy your needs especially well? If it does, then definitely stay on Facebook, just watch your time and how it impacts other scenes of your life and relationships. *Do not let the costs outweigh the benefits.*
